Nights of contemplative ambient atmospheres for romantic evenings - deep listening for even deeper thinking. Shimmering sounds from the piano bar, bathed in the glory of the candlelight...
estlin usher is a sound artist and composer based out of Chicago, IL, USA, working with field recording, abstract synthesis, electro-acoustic techniques, and sample manipulation to create immersive and evocative listening environments. estlin’s work explores the sound of objects in the world, found sound, extant media, and how they relate to history, politics, and concepts beyond the traditional notion of music, sound, and noise.
For the Tack Room Ambient Series, estlin will be performing with asynchronous tape loops, using source material from classical music, field recording, and found sounds alongside processed sample-based audio. Expect long form, slowly evolving loops and textures that play within the liminal space between sound, silence, presence, and absence.
estlin works in collaboration with X. A. Li as Post Consumer Material, an artificial industrial/experimental media project; with Rush Falknor as IG Metall, a proletarian industrial techno group; and with Andy Klingensmith as Field Dept., a sound-art project exploring objects, field recordings, and process-based compositional strategies. He established the occasional review and opinion site Post Capital Club during quarantine in 2020.
