Nightshade and the Human Veil

  • Tack Room 1227 West 18th Street Chicago, IL, 60608 United States (map)

Nightshade is a deeply personal project by Chicago musician j. (also of Colossus, Cherry Cordial, and Impavida). Eschewing the fantasy elements which pervade a large portion of the "dungeon synth" style, Nightshade's cavernous, Classically-inclined synthesizer music plumbs the depths of human misery and the poison of the self. Nightshade's recently released self-titled album will be performed sparingly and at rare occurrences. Nightshade is a member of the Great Lakes Dungeon Synth circle. Nightshade is Misery Synth.

Deep in the forest, through the ominous mosaic, lies the ethereal intonations of The Human Veil. In artist Helena Ford's music, we find an array of dismal textures that combine the throes of dark ambient soundscapes with torment-filled chops that are more akin to droning organs in a towering cathedral than galloping synth modulations. This journey through the unknown is a compelling quality that resides deep in thought and resonates with otherworldly fears. Sit back, dim the lights, and prepare to meditate in an unforgiving, anguished realm of melancholic dreams. The Human Veil is a member of the Great Lakes Dungeon Synth circle.
